Gerald Rusunwuly

Gerald Rusunwuly, born in Sorong on May 28, 2015. Since 2022, Gerald has been experiencing headaches that would eventually go away, so his family initially thought they were nothing serious. However, in November 2025, his legs began to show difficulties with normal walking. Gerald is a bright and talented child. He was selected to represent his fellow students from Tual in a Mathematics Olympiad, and he had been preparing diligently for the competition.
In July, Gerald traveled to Ambon because his condition was not improving. After undergoing medical examinations and a CT scan, doctors discovered that he had hydrocephalus and a lump at the back of his head. Surgery to drain the excessive fluid from his head was successful. However, further examination revealed that he also had a brainstem tumor. The doctors recommended that Gerald be referred to the National Brain Center Hospital in Jakarta for further treatment. Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties, his family has not yet been able to make the journey.
Gerald traveled from Tual with his father and mother. After receiving the doctor's advice, his father, Decky, returned to Sorong to work and earn enough money to cover Gerald's medical expenses. His father works as a construction worker, while his mother is a homemaker. Gerald's parents have had to leave behind his older sister and three younger siblings so they can accompany him during his treatment in Ambon.
At present, Gerald's eyesight has also begun to blur, and he needs someone to guide him when walking. Despite all these challenges, Gerald remains determined and hopeful about recovering. We continue to pray for him and encourage him to stay strong.
We believe that the Lord Jesus has carried Gerald's suffering, and through His wounds, Gerald will be healed and restored. We pray that the Lord will miraculously provide for all his needs, including transportation to Jakarta and accommodation at a temporary shelter while he receives treatment. May God open a way where there seems to be none and provide everything the family needs according to His perfect will.
