After receiving information from the family, the volunteers of Berkat Ambon visited Pertiwi Helena Dewaut, an 11-month-old baby from Tual who is currently receiving treatment at the hospital after being diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Pertiwi has undergone surgery on her head and abdomen to insert a drainage system to help remove excess fluid and prevent further enlargement of her head caused by the buildup of fluid. Her father is a farmer, while her mother is a homemaker. Both parents had to leave the city of Tual and travel to Ambon so that Pertiwi could receive the medical care she needs as soon as possible.

Under these circumstances, the family’s financial resources are very limited, while they still need to cover Pertiwi’s medical and daily needs, transportation expenses, as well as food and other necessities for both parents. Once the doctor gives permission for her to return home, the family will return to Tual for the time being. Let us pray that God will open a way for Pertiwi’s healing and provide for all of her needs. For all who feel moved to help Pertiwi in her recovery, please contact us through Berkat Ambon Messenger.

May God continue to help and bless us all.

A Prayer for Hope: Lord, I maintain my hope in You and I hold onto the assurance that You are my Rock and my Refuge who bends His ear when the afflicted call out Your Name. As David prayed in Psalm 18:1: “I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
